Maker and Unmaker

In your eyes I see
the universe.
The universe likes your eyes.
It injects its weaknesses
into them, to be dissolved.

In the universe I see your eyes.
Sometimes, anyway,
on one of these nights with
clouds lolloping and stars
pinging on intermittently.

Entropy is teasing you apart.
The universe goes on.
Entropy, Unmaker, does not lash,
does not laugh,
does not sting or prick or jibe.
Entropy niggles, nibbles steadily,
vibrates.
You don’t notice it
but entropy is teasing the universe apart.
The universe doesn’t notice it either.

In the universe I see your eyes
on one of these nights with clouds
lolloping and stars
pinging on intermittently,
teasing.
